Samantha, a single mother of a beautiful 5 year old, was at risk of having her utilities disconnected. She has two part time jobs to make ends meet, one of them, at Tim Hortons on Bay St. Samantha got ill for a couple of days and was not able to go to work. Like many other single parent families with low-income, Samantha’s finances were affected by her loss of income in just those couple of days.
On the bright side, Samantha was referred to the Community Assistance Trust program at United Way where the payment for her utilities was covered. Samantha now is back on track and her family is doing well.
